VICTORIAN TRAVEL PERMIT:

Victorian Travel Permit Scheme

From 6pm on Monday, 11 January 2021 you will need to apply for a permit to enter Victoria from anywhere in Australia.

The permit system is for travellers and residents that live in Victoria who are returning home.

Victoria will categorise other parts of Australia as green, orange or red, depending on the coronavirus risk in that area.

To apply for a permit, you will need to provide details about where you are coming from and traveling to.

People who live in border communities will not need a permit but will need to provide proof of their home address at the border.

How to apply:

Apply for a permit through Service Victoria

href="https://www.service.vic.gov.au/services/border-permit/home"

(Click on the link below)

APPLY FOR YOUR PERMIT

Permit zones

A red zone means that you cannot enter Victoria. There are some reasons you may enter, such as with a Specified Worker or Freight Workers permit, or an exception or exemption permit for compassionate reasons. If you enter from a red zone without an exemption, exception, or work permit you will be fined and turned around.

An orange zone means that you can apply for a permit and will have to get tested within 72 hours of arriving in Victoria. You must stay at home before and after your test, until you receive a negative test result.

A green zone means that you can apply for a permit and enter Victoria. Once in Victoria you should watch for symptoms and get tested if you feel unwell.

Permit exemptions:

You can apply for an exemption permit if you have a valid reason. This may include:

● an end of life event or funeral

● returning home for health, wellbeing, care or compassionate reasons

 ● emergency relocation

● the wellbeing of an animal on the other side of the border.

From 11.59pm 1 January 2021, Victoria has closed its borders to New South Wales.

If you returned to Victoria from the Green Zone before 12:59am on 1 January 2021, you need to get tested and self-quarantine at home until you get a negative test result. If you experience any symptoms after this time, it’s vital you get tested again.

If you returned to Victoria from the Green Zone after 12:59am on 1 January 2021 and before 11.59pm 1 January 2021, you will need to get tested and self-quarantine at home for 14 days.

If you try to enter Victoria after 11.59pm 1 January, you will be turned away. If you enter Victoria without an exemption, you will face a fine and be required to enter mandatory hotel quarantine for 14 days.

Victorians in the Blue Mountains City Council and Wollongong City Council local government areas had until 12:59am on 1 January 2021 to return to Victoria and are required to self-isolate at home for 14 days.

Victorian and New South Wales residents living near the border may travel into Victoria by showing their driver licence or other formal photo identification and proof of address.

UPDATE FOR PEOPLE TRAVELLING FROM NSW

Victoria’s Chief Health Officer has now declared:
◾ only 10 Local Government Areas in Greater Sydney will remain in the Red zone
◾ all Local Government Areas in NSW’s border bubble to be Green zones.
These changes come into effect at 6pm tonight (Monday 18 January).

🔴 10 Local Government areas remain in the Red zone (see full list in comments)

Anyone who has been to one of them in the last 14 days other than for transit cannot travel to Victoria without an exemption, exception or essential worker permit.

🟠 Travellers from all other areas of Greater Sydney, Blue Mountains and Wollongong, will no longer require an Exemption Permit. Travellers from these areas can now apply for an Orange Zone Permit and enter Victoria, as long as they:
◾ have not been in any other currently listed Red zone in the past 14 days
◾ agree to the conditions of an Orange Zone Permit, including getting a coronavirus (COVID-19) test within 72 hours of arrival and remaining in self-quarantine until a negative result is received.

🟢 Local Government Areas in NSW’s border bubble will become green zones

Travellers from these areas will not be required to get tested within 72 hours of arrival and remain in self-quarantine until they receive a negative result.

Cross border community residents are not required to obtain a green zone travel permit as long as they provide a valid form of ID with their address – like a licence.

However, please note:
📌 If you have been in a current Orange zone in the last 14 days you must apply for an Orange zone permit.
📌 If you have been to an area still considered a red zone in the last 14 days you cannot travel to Victoria without an exemption, exception or essential worker permit.

SELF-QUARANTINE:

Self-quarantine means you must stay at home. You cannot go to work, outside to exercise, to the shops or to visit friends and family. You can only leave your house for an emergency, to get tested or if you need medical help.

You cannot have any visitors over to your home. If you live with others, you should stay and sleep in a different room to other people as much as possible.
